Write to your MP
We must be free to talk. Talk to your MP, telling them to uphold the freedom to have conversations about sex, sexuality and gender.
Banning ‘talking conversion therapy’ simply bans consensual conversations. There is no other law that bans people from having a private conversation about their feelings and what they believe.
It’s time MPs realised this.

Harmful physical ‘conversion practices do not take place in the UK. And even if they did, they’re already illegal
Talking isn’t harmful. In fact, evidence suggests that even when counselling doesn’t work, it still causes the individual no harm, and generally has very positive outcomes on a person’s mental health, in particular
A ban breaches human rights. Consensual conversations should not be banned
A ban would target free speech - conversations, prayers, counselling. All of these should be protected in law
A ban is motivated by ideology, not by evidence. There is no evidence to show that ‘conversion practices’ are harmful
A ban would open the way for the government to ban any other kind of conversation it doesn’t like.
